Semtech’s LoRa® Devices Reduce Energy Waste with Smarter Metering Applications
Solutions from Elmeasure and ClodPi track and report usage data in real time for precise billing and efficient utilities

 Semtech Corporation (Nasdaq: SMTC), a leading supplier of high-performance analog and mixed-signal semiconductors and advanced algorithms, announced that Elmeasure India Pvt. Ltd. (Elmeasure), a leading developer of Internet of Things (IoT) technologies for the utility metering and energy management industries, and ClodPi Labs (ClodPi), an IoT innovator specializing in long range sensor networks based on Semtech’s LoRa® devices and the LoRaWAN® protocol, developed a new LoRa-based prepaid energy metering solution. This new line of prepaid smart meters tracks and reports usage data in real time for precise billing and reduced energy waste in utility applications.

Elmeasure and ClodPi’s LoRa-based prepaid meters monitor energy use in real time, and provide users alerts through email or text message when abnormalities, including rate spikes or meter tampering, occur. Additionally, the solutions allow the integration and monitoring of smart meters for gas and water under the same platform for aggregate viewing and management. By providing consistent, accurate data on usage, these prepaid smart meters enable customers to budget and stay in control of energy use and waste, saving on monthly bills and reducing environmental impact.
